Loom Knit Baby Hat Pattern

It has been a while since I’ve posted on my blog. I have been swamped with commissioned pieces, Christmas gift knitting, and one selfish knitting event KAL on Ravelry.

Just before or maybe it was right around the Holiday Season began I promised to publish a loom knit baby hat pattern which I am finally coming through on.  The previous baby hats I created on the loom I donated to our local hospital NICU department.  Recently I was alerted to a new need for baby hats on Ravelry through Pens, Hook and Needles group.  I could not resist and this time while I created a design as I went along I wrote it out so I would remember what I did and share it with you my Followers.

I am creating a video tutorial I will be uploading to my YouTube Channel for how to make this loom knit hat as well.  When it is available for viewing I welcome you to watch, subscribe, leave a thumbs up (pretty please and thank you!), and/or a comment in the comment section.  If you would be so kind to invite others to view and subscribe to my YouTube Channel I will be ever so grateful.  I plan on making tutorials on a monthly basis to increase activity level to retain current Subscribers and gain new ones. Please feel free to suggest topics to be covered on my channel as well as here.Links to my video tutorials will be listed in order at the bottom of this post.  You will have to copy and paste the information into your web browser.

I apologize for lacking a photo of the finished hat.  I am working on getting one uploaded.  For now please accept my invitation to view the completed hat on my InstaGram account.  Just click the link, or if you’re so inclined write the address down and enter into your Web Browser.  Thank you for your patience while I work on getting the photo issue resolved!

With no further adieu here is the pattern.

Materials/Supplies

24 peg round loom

Lion Brand Homespun approx 35-50 yds

Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice approx 35-50 yds

Loom Pick/Hook

Large Tapestry/Yarn Needle

Preparation

Wind the Homespun and Vanna’s Choice together into one ball.  (This helps a bit to decrease the uneven tension that occurs when using two balls separately.)

Hat Band

CO using E-Wrap method

Rnd 1:  Knit stitch around

Rnd 2:  Purl stitch around.

Rep these 2 rnds once more. (Total Rnds: CO + 4 rnds= 6)

Body of Hat

Rnd 1:  E-wrap stitch knit around.

Rnd 2:  U-wrap stitch around.

Rep these two rnds 4 times (Total rnds 10)

Rep Round 1 of Body of Hat rnds once more. (Total rnds 11)

Cast Off

Cut approx 12″ of yarn.  Thread needle and use Needle bind off method for casting off.  Pull through tightly to create a Starburst top at crown of hat.

Finish Hat

Bring yarn to inside of hat.  Secure, weave in approx 2″ of yarn ends, pull taut, clip yarn ends close to hat.

Bring yarn to inside of hat band, weave in approx 2″ inside of hat, pull taut, clip close to band.

You now have an adorable baby hat that’s soft and warm!
