This tutorial will walk you through the gusset decrease set up round. Written explanations are below photos. Let’s get started!
Before I begin the gusset decrease section I make a chart to keep track of the decrease rounds and the stitch pattern sequence. This makes it easy to keep track of where you are in the process. First we need to knit a set up round before we begin the decrease rounds.
Bring your back needle to the front needle, knit across the heel stitches in Magic Loop method.
This is what the heel stitches should look when you are at the end of the heel. Slip the stitch marker.
After slipping the stitch marker ktbl (knit through the back loop) across the gusset section to next marker.
This is what your ktbl gusset section should look at the end of the gusset section. Slip stitch marker between gusset and top of foot section.
After slipping the stitch marker knit in pattern across the top of the foot. Remember half your top of foot stitches will be on one needle while the remaining half will be on the other needle. At the end of this section slip the stitch marker.
After slipping the stitch marker ktbl across the second gusset stitches to end of that section. Slip marker.
You are now ready to begin the gusset decrease section of your sock. I will publish a photo tutorial for that section.
